Good Measure Training Kitchen

What is it?

Our aim is to harness the power of food to change lives and enrich our community.

We do this by providing free bakery and cookery classes to unemployed people across South London, to build confidence, social networks and skills for employment. Following on from our introductory courses, we offer structured vocational training to support people looking to gain skills for working in catering and hospitality, as well as work placements and paid jobs in our catering social enterprise, Good Measure.

If you or someone you work with could benefit from taking part in the Good Measure training kitchen - we'd love to hear from you. You can sign up to one of our introductory courses using the form below.

What does our introductory course involve?

This is a practical programme based in a food-preparation kitchen and you will have the opportunity to take a funded Level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene as well as gaining experience of producing food for sale to customers. However, it is not just aimed at those looking to work in the hospitality sector. If you’re looking to get out of the house, learn new skills and start thinking about returning to work, then this course may be for you. A love of food will help though!

Who is it for?

This course is open to anyone living in Lewisham or Southwark borough who is hoping to return to work within the next year. If you live further afield, but are willing to travel to Lewisham, please feel free to fill in an application. This a voluntary programme, free of charge - but places are limited - so fill in your application as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, or would like to speak to someone about the course, email our Chef Tutor on claudia@jubileece.org
